The Krazy K’s girls can cook too! They have been barbequing with Krazy K since they were children. Krazy K taught them everything they know, from making barbeque sauce to preparing a pig.
The girls took it to another level when Krazy K decided he was retiring from competitions in 2008. Amber and Kacie decided to enter competitions in place of Krazy K. He loved the idea! The girls came up with a name for themselves, the Kurly Tails. The next year, the Kurly Tails were prepared for the South Carolina Bar-B-Que Shag Festival cook-off but what would a competition be without a bet between them and their dad?
Krazy K told his girls that if they placed in the money, which was 5th or above, he would paint the grill hot pink. The bet was on! Guess what? The Kurly Tails were awarded 5th place, out of 53 whole hog cookers, and won $750. Well, let’s just say by the next time the girls cooked, the grill was hot pink! The Kurly Tails have been competing in whole hog competitions since 2009. Since then, they have won 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 3rd. This year, the Kurly Tails won 2nd place in the South Carolina Bar-B-Que Shag Festival, Bar-B-Que Cook Off! Krazy K, also came out of retirement this year (2017), with his assistant cook and lifetime friend, Emmett Reeder, to compete against the Kurly Tails, winning 5th place. However, due to the fact that the Kurly Tails placed 2nd and Krazy K placed 5th, he still had to bow down to his daughters on stage. But, of course, he was one proud daddy!
